Email permutator

Enter a name and a domain to list every common email format, then verify the one you want.

Free, no signup. Runs in your browser, nothing is sent to a server.

How to use an email permutator

An email permutator writes out every likely address for one person from their name and company domain. It saves the typing, but it cannot tell you which address is real.

Most companies pick one pattern

A company usually gives everyone the same format, such as jane.doe@ or jdoe@. Find one real address at the company and you can often work out the rest.

Look for an example on the company website, in a press release or in a colleague's signature before you start guessing.

Verify before you send

A guessed address that does not exist bounces, and a high bounce rate hurts your sender reputation. Run the top few formats through a verifier and send only to the one that comes back valid.

Some domains are catch-all: the server accepts mail for any address. A verifier cannot tell you which guess is right on those, so treat the result as risky.

Accents, hyphens and apostrophes

Company mail systems usually use plain letters, so José becomes jose. German names vary, so Müller is listed as both muller and mueller. Apostrophes are dropped: O'Brien becomes obrien.

Hyphenated names vary between companies. The list adds versions with the hyphen kept and with only the first part of the name.

Email Permutator FAQ

What is an email permutator?

It is a tool that combines a first name, last name and company domain into the common email formats, such as [email protected] and [email protected]. You then verify the guesses to find the address that works.

What is the most common business email format?

first.last@domain is one of the most widely used, followed by formats like first@, flast@ and firstlast@. Every company sets its own, so check a known address at the same company when you can.

How do I find out which email format is correct?

Verify the guesses one by one, starting at the top of the list. A valid result means the mail server confirmed the mailbox exists. On a catch-all domain the server accepts every address, so no check can confirm the right one.

Does this tool send the names I enter anywhere?

No. The formats are built in your browser and nothing you type is sent to Oppora. An address is only sent for checking when you click Verify, which opens the email verifier.

Why does the domain matter?

Email goes to the domain the company uses for mail, which is not always its website domain. Run an MX lookup on it first: a domain with no MX records does not receive email, so every guess would bounce.

Can guessing email addresses hurt my deliverability?

Sending to unverified guesses can. Each wrong address bounces, and mailbox providers read a high bounce rate as a sign you do not know your recipients. Verify first and send only to valid addresses.
